Job Description

The Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) will enhance the quality and reliability of Brivo’s cloud‑based security products by developing automated tests, expanding regression coverage, and validating APIs. The role blends programming (primarily Python) with software‑testing expertise, requiring work on CI/CD pipelines, debugging failures, and collaborating with developers and product managers to mitigate quality risks. Candidates should be comfortable writing code, building test frameworks, and investigating test failures in an agile environment.

Roles & Responsibilities

- Write, execute and maintain automated API tests using Playwright, Robot Framework or PyTest
- Review requirements and user stories to create appropriate test cases
- Perform exploratory testing where automation is not yet available
- Convert repeatable manual tests into automated scripts
- Investigate CI/CD pipeline failures and determine root causes (defect, automation issue, environment)
- Log defects with detailed reproduction steps, logs and evidence
- Use Git for branching, commits, pull requests and code reviews
- Contribute to test data creation, environment setup and automation utilities
- Collaborate with developers and product managers to identify and address quality risks

Eligibility Criteria

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline (or equivalent practical experience)
- 0–2 years of experience in software testing, test automation or software development
- Working knowledge of at least one programming language, preferably Python
- Exposure to automation frameworks such as PyTest, Playwright or Robot Framework
- Understanding of REST APIs, HTTP methods, status codes and JSON
- Familiarity with Git and basic branching workflows
- Knowledge of test‑case design, regression testing and defect lifecycle
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication and collaboration skills
